Within our organization and program, universal patient rights apply.
These rights form the foundation of a safe and respectful care relationship. They include the right to clear information, privacy, self-determination (giving or refusing consent), access to your medical file, quality care, and the freedom to choose your healthcare providers.
These rights are established in legislation such as the WGBO (Medical Treatment Agreement Act) in the Netherlands and the Patient Rights Act in Belgium. Governments ensure these rights are upheld and that discrimination is prevented.
- Right to information:
clear explanation about your health, treatment, choices, and consequences. - Right to informed consent:
any examination or treatment only takes place with your informed consent; you also have the right to say “no.” - Right to self-determination:
the right to make your own decisions about your body and care, including refusing treatment. - Right to privacy and confidentiality:
medical information is confidential and may not be shared without permission. - Right to access and correct your medical file:
you have the right to view, copy, and request corrections to your medical records. - Right to quality care:
you are entitled to high-quality and respectful care. - Right to freedom of choice:
you may choose your own healthcare provider and pharmacy.
International Quality Standards and European Principles
Rebuild Yourself welcomes clients from various countries, including the Netherlands, Belgium, and other European nations. For this reason, we strive to organize our services in accordance with internationally recognized quality, privacy, and governance principles that are aligned with European standards.
For clients from the European Union, it may be relevant to know that the European Directive on Patients’ Rights in Cross-Border Healthcare (Directive 2011/24/EU) provides, under certain conditions, possibilities for reimbursement of healthcare received outside their home country. Clients are advised to contact their health insurer or the relevant authority in advance to determine their individual eligibility.
Rebuild Yourself:
- operates according to quality procedures based on internationally recognized healthcare and safety standards;
- ensures that its financial processes are independently reviewed by qualified accountants in Cambodia and, where applicable, by European/Dutch certified public accountants;
- applies privacy and data protection procedures that are aligned with the principles of the GDPR and other internationally recognized privacy standards;
- is open to independent quality assessments and inspections, while fully respecting the privacy and confidentiality of its clients;
- collaborates with medical professionals, healthcare institutions, and partners in Cambodia and Europe;
- is committed to transparency, client safety, professional accountability, and continuous quality improvement.
These principles complement the universal patient rights that are respected and upheld throughout our organization.
